Conferences and workshops

Pittsburgh- National Conference
The biggest thing coming up is the National Wildlife Society Conference. This is an incredible experience, there are presentations by all kinds of professionals and graduate students, and constant networking opportunities. I know we keep hammering networking, but it's true. These are people who you will work with, who will hire you, and who are doing interesting work worth knowing about. Talking to them in a setting like this is a great way to forge connections and make an impression (ideally a good one).
It is October 25th-30th (we will be returning the 29th) and we will be driving to Pittsburgh and staying in a hotel. Please email Peter at pciacono@syr.edu if you are interested in attending.
Information and signups can be found here.

Fall Field Meeting
Before the National conference is the New York State Fall Field Meeting, October 3rd and 4th, a Friday and Saturday. Peter emailed out the schedule and registration, so check your email about that. As a reminder, if you plan on going, please bring your filled out registration form and payment to our next meeting this Thursday at 6pm in 146 Baker. There is the option of paying with card on the registration form. If you can't make it to the meeting, please email Peter at pciacono@syr.edu to work out a time to get it to him.

Chemical Immobilization
SafeCapture International holds classes in chemical immobilization every year. Rachel Brubaker is planning on going to this fall, and Thea went last year. It is a great skill to have, and a ton of useful information. Plus, you get to play with blowguns. The certification lasts three years. It will be in Connecticut on November 13th and 14th (Thursday and Friday) More information and registration can be found here. If you can't make that date, but are interested, there are more dates listed here, but that will be a separate trip. Please email Thea at rtcooper@syr.edu if you are interested either way.

Bowhunter Certification
This is this coming weekend, on Sunday the 21st, and is already full. Have fun, everyone who is going, and good luck! If you weren't able to sign up this time, there will be another chance in the spring, so stay tuned for that!

Lastly, if you know of any cool conferences, workshops or training sessions that are coming up that you think the club would be interested in, comment below or email (any of the officers, or TWSatESF@gmail.com) to let us know! We would love to arrange more of these and spread the word.
